Small Town Tech was established in 2016 with a mission to increase the community's technological capabilities, infrastructure, and security. Our owners, Ted Saxton and Jim Yount, decided early on that they would not measure the success of the business by profits and instead they would measure based on our impact on the community. This has led to the amazing work they have done through the Koochiching Technology Initiative with other community partners and the support they have offered through Small Town Tech in support of local non-profits and community organizations and events.
At the inception of Small Town Tech, Ted and Jim made some key decisions about how to build trust in the community.
These goals have made Small Town Tech the number 1 technical services company in Koochiching County and we have earned the trust of hundreds of businesses, non-profits, and government entities.
Jim and Ted have determined that although we have always strived to live up to these goals, sometimes we have fallen short, especially in looking out for what is in the best interest of our business customers. Many times we have made recommendations to our business customers that have not been followed through with by the customer, oftentimes due to their budgets, after all, technology isn’t cheap. These customer decisions have led to data loss, ransomware, insecure networks, unsafe user practices, and many other technological issues. Some businesses never recovered or are still operating insecurley or have jeopardized their customers' personal data. This is no longer acceptable to us and is doing a huge disservice to our business customers.
Partner Client Program
Our strategy going forward is a new concept that we are calling our Partner Client Program. We are implementing processes that will demonstrate our Partner Clients needs. This is not to sell more services or hardware that our customers need. This is solely for the protection of our Partner Clients and their customers.
Our Partner Client philosophy is simple; we want what's best for your business to be successful. We only succeed when our partners succeed.
We will be offering free discovery services for our existing business customers. This is a pivotal part of the onboarding process for Partner Clients and will determine your security risks and create an asset management plan. During the discovery process, we may determine that a particular need is being met or could best be met by a different provider and as long as their services meet your needs, we will consider that specific need is adequately handled. After the discovery process, a technology plan is created and will have specific timelines that will be reasonable and achievable by our Partner Clients. This may include network security upgrades, new user practices, or replacing outdated and insecure equipment.
Our Partner Clients will also receive Quarterly Security Reviews and an incident response plan which will include a disaster recovery section. With the current cyberthreats that every business is susceptible to, our goal is to minimize risk and decrease recovery time and costs.
Partner Clients can rest assured that Small Town Tech will be an active partner in the success of their business.
We will still provide some break/fix services but business customers will be asked to sign on as Partner Clients in order to continue future break/fix services going forward. If a break/fix customer does not want to become a Partner Client, there will be no hard feelings and we will wish them the best of luck. Partner Clients will be given top priority among our business customers. Other break/fix services will be subject to our availability.
Our Partner Client model will not affect any residential services or tech support that we offer to non-business customers.
Other Business Services
In the past we have offered services such as access control installation, audio/visual installations, wireless signal boosters, security camera installation, and many more services related to low voltage installations. We will continue to offer services, but we will be taking a vendor management approach and will help find installers or system engineers and manage the projects but will not be doing much of the physical installation. We will only work with professional, qualified, and trusted installers.

File backup is integrated into our Pro+Tech Endpoint Agent and requires no additional software. Pro+Tech File Backup is billed in 60GB blocks that can be pooled across all or some of your organizations endpoints. Keep up to 30 file revisions for up to 30 days incase you need to revert to a previous save point. Bandwidth for the backup service is throttled during regular business hours to significantly reduce the amount of network resources that your backup services consumes. File backup is often the right backup solution for endpoints that have work files on the hard drive and the majority of work environments are cloud based. Cloud file backup is not recommended for servers or computers that uptime is mission critical.

All data is encrypted in motion and at rest via secure AES 256 Bit end-to-end encryption and is stored in the USA(or Canada for our customers north of the border). Pro+Tech's security practices adhere to and exceed the strictest standards for data protection compliance practices.

Our team is ready to support you through all of the phases of network management. We install, service, configure, maintain, and monitor networks.
Small Town Tech is a licensed low voltage installer and installs Ubiquiti network equipment and integrated IP DVR Systems.
$100 per hour Low Voltage Rate
We fully support our network installations but can also provide support for your existing networks including providing onsite support for your remotely based network internal management team.
Do you have existing network equipment that hasn't been recently managed by a professional? We can configure your current equipment to meet your security needs or recommend network equipment that provides the capabilities that you need. Due to the variation in network equipment, an estimate is generated on an individual basis.
Receive a contract rate for schedule and break/fix maintenance.
Level 1 Network Support - troubleshooting provided by a network technician: adding a SSID, changing a password, firmware updates, basic network security, DNS, DHCP, and static IP configuration
$60 per hour billed in 5 minute increments
Level 2 Network Support - Troubleshooting provided by a network administrator: Advanced networks
$85 per hour billed in 5 minute increments
Unifi Network Monitoring and Firewall
$20 per site and $2 per network device per month
Non-Unifi Network Management
We can monitor your existing network equipment and IP enabled devices through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) with scheduled reporting and automated alerts.
$2 per endpoint per month
Help Desk and Tech Support
Pro+Tech Customers receive a special labor rate of $60 per hour. That low rate applies to remote tech support, in shop repair, and onsite tech support for all level one tech support. The Pro+Tech labor rate is the only rate that is billed in 5 minute increments. That saves you money and encourages you and your employees to utilize us when a task can be handled more cost effectively by our technicians.
Pro+Tech's ticketing system is easy to use and can be accessed by our website or a portal integrated into you current online work environment.. You will also be able to submit tickets by phone or Livechat with our technicians during business hours through our Pro+Tech web portal. Start work tickets directly from your SysTray with our Pro+Tech software.
